OF CONTINUITY AND FUTURE

There was no communication vehicle in the world that did not announce Lula's victory in the 2026 election on the front page. The Brazilian election interested everyone because Brazil is an important political and economic partner. The election had in the chess of global politics for the world powers a very varied perception, according to their interests. The victory of the now fugitive right-wing candidate was expected by conservatives and the extreme right saw it as the crowning of a trend according to which the world will be dominated by politicians of this strand. And the greatest hope for this came from the USA, which could say that the left wave in their backyard was over and that all of South America followed North American politics. China, Brazil's largest trading partner and support for our foreign exchange reserves, feels very comfortable with current politics and, even though it is pragmatic, has more closeness to Lula than to an opposition candidate. The EU, with the agreement in implementation, prefers Lula, because it was in his government that he signed it. Japan is a serene and practical country, but it is interesting to note that Flávio Bolsonaro won Lula's shot in the Brazilian community there. Russia has never done so much business with Brazil as in this government, in addition to clear support or neutrality in favor of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. And there was Argentina, whose President, yes, campaigned for the opposition shamelessly and refused to greet the winner, unlike a hundred heads of state and government who congratulated Lula. Trump was also an exception, with his unfounded comment on the correctness of the electoral process.

In the previous election, the anxiety to recognize Lula's victory was broken minutes after the results were announced with phone calls from the Presidents of the US and France. Now, the difference of 4 million votes was enough. THE first week was due to the earthquake in the financial market on the first day, already priced the next day, along with the opponent's flight to the United States, leaving his voters and the politicians who supported him orphans. The opposition, which gained a majority in the legislative houses, will have to reorganize itself and the government will find it easier to make agreements to implement the agenda.

Abroad there is the same concern as many in Brazil: the financial situation and economic policy will require a lot of attention and action. The issue of the balance of payments and external debt also entered the radar. The international scenario is no longer a brigadier's heaven, the country is losing in competitiveness, in addition to facing a fiscal crisis and high interest rates. The question that international interlocutors ask is whether Lula's fourth warrant will be a new version of something that needs to be corrected with the implementation of changes, or a continuity. And then they say that the risk of continuity being broken is great.
