FROM GREENLAND AND THE AMAZON

A country covered with ice, little inhabited, close to the USA, suffering from climate change, its ice melting and thus opening new navigation paths and exposing its mineral wealth. Territory associated with Denmark and that Trump wants at all costs for the United States. If you succeed, and from a North American strategic point of view, your arguments are correct, not only goes down in history, in the year of the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States, but also changes for many years the geopolitical relationship of the world. And to achieve this you have to convince not only Denmark, which administers the territory, but the entire EU. And if you use force, all the allies of the NATO military alliance. And even if it succeeds with diplomacy, it will leave deep marks in the US relationship with Europe. And if it's not with diplomacy, then it will have destroyed the already weakened EU, with which we have just made an agreement, and NATO. If you catch the animal, eat, if you run, the animal catches it.

Brazil is one of the countries that has interests in the other glacier in the world, Antarctica. We have a research base that is, with the lack of resources, heroically maintained by the Navy, with the support of FAB and USP. But we're there. The Greenland conflict can be tectonic in terms of world spatial reorganization, that is, in its geopolitical reorganization. That is, the US considers the continent to the south as part of its backyard, and adds a territory from Europe to expand its power.

And in the Latin American continent, where there is still the issue of the Panama Canal as a strategic point of interest of the Trump government, we have the Amazon. It does not connect like Greenland due to its proximity to the USA, but in addition to being the largest biome in the world and fundamental to the climate, it has strategic mineral wealth not yet exploited, which will be fundamental for the survival of humanity in the coming centuries. And of the nine countries that make up the Amazonian treaty, Venezuela and Guyana are already under North American control.

The USA, already in the last century, began, with the rubber cycle, the conquest of the Brazilian Amazon. After the bonanza at the beginning of the century, remember Fordlandia, and the collapse of the sector, it was during the Second World War that Brazil became fundamental to supply the Americans. Former US President Theodore Roosevelt made an expedition with Cândido Rondon in 1913, traveling the 1600 km Doubt River. And then, the Americans actively helped the Brazilian military in the fight against guerrillas in the Amazon, for fear that they would establish socialist republics. Already in democratization we acquired the SIVAM Amazon surveillance system from a North American company. And more recently, without Musk's Starlink, the Amazon is silent.

The Amazon is not Greenland, but the two regions are part of the global dilemma of development, whether in the climatic area or in its mineral wealth. So, let's stay alert.
